Declines The Honor.-We are informed says the Cambridge Reveille, by a reliable letter from a respectable citizen of Parke county Indiana, that Hon. Henry Secrest, declines serving as a Cass elector. The dose he says is too strong for his stomach. He cannot be made the tool of such a changeling political driveler as Lewis Cass.
John B. Nees, the contingent, also, declines the honor. His health is bad and he wants a better physician than Prince Louis!
We admire the honesty, and honor the judgment and discrimination of these gentlemen.-Dayton Journal.
The above assertions are false. Neither of the gentlemen named have ever assigned any such reasons as those indicated. On the contrary Mr. Cass has long been and now is the first choice of both Mr. Secrest and Mr. Nees, who have published cards to that effect. The reasons which influenced the first were entirely of a private nature, and are satisfactory to his friends and to the friends of Gen. Cass. A little more truth and candor gentlemen.
