Isaac C. Bates.
In this gentleman, the State of Massachusetts, have obtained an accession of talent, to their already excellent delegation in Congress, which we have just cause to be proud of. With the ability to shine on any occasion, he never wastes the time of Congress for mere display. One such man, is worth scores of those, who are always chattering to no purpose, and who thus fritter away whatever of influence they might otherwise possess.
Mr. Bates has recently made a speech on the Tariff Bill, which the correspondent of the N. Y. Com. Advertiser says, "has been the theme of admiration, both of tariff and anti-tariff men."
