DASHED TO DEATH.

Deadwood Boy Falls Forty Feet Down Rocky Precipice.

Deadwood, S. D., May 26.-Walter Geselus, 9 years old, the son of Mrs. William Stevens, of the First ward, Deadwood, was instantly killed by falling from "Brown Rocks," a cliff over fifty feet high, in the lower part of Deadwood. His neck was broken and his skull crushed.

The boy, in company with several others, was climbing the face of the cliff, and a boulder to which he was clinging, part way to the top, started from its loose bed and precipitated him to the bottom. The boy struck several projecting ledges in the descent, and it is probable that he received injuries sufficient to produce death before he reached the bottom.

The lad fell over forty feet, and the boulder that he dislodged fell on top of him, crushing him badly.
