MOST DARING ROBBERY.—A most daring robbery was committed on Saturday evening last, at about ten o'clock, on the Gore turnpike, between Douglas and Webster. On that day Mr. Oliver C. Emerson had received about sixteen hundred dollars, in this city, principally bills on the Manufacturers Bank of Providence, for Mr. Samuel Slater; and was met by three armed ruffians, and beaten very severely, robbed of his money, and left. Mr. Slater has offered three hundred dollars reward for the detection of the robbers and the recovery of the money. Two persons were yesterday examined in this city before Justice Tillinghast; but there appearing no evidence against them, they were discharged.—[Journal.
