Senators Plumb and Ingalls.

At the beginning of this session of congress, Senator Plumb, while admitting that the farmers were having a hard time, had no remedy to offer and no sympathy. He said that the farmers contributed to their weakness by selling what they produced at one season of the year and buying it back at another season of the year. Figuratively speaking, he dismissed the farmers with a lofty wave of his imperial hand and proceeded to mature his justly celebrated and statesman-like bill, known as the bison bill. After the farmers refused to accept the bison bill as a remedy for existing evils, the senator put on his red necktie and advocated free coinage of silver, but when he thought the farmers had been sufficiently fooled he voted for the bill that is to demonetize silver. The senator put on his red necktie recently and is now fighting the McKinley tariff bill. Just wait and see if the bison bill senator doesn't vote for a bill just as bad as the McKinley tariff bill, if not worse, and pronounce it as he did the silver bill, "very good." In all this we see the usual political jugglery of Republican leaders. Senator Plumb is paving the way for Senator Ingalls to come in without it being too noticeable. The game won't win. The people are onto all such games. Senators were too slow in finding out the people's needs.
