One hundred Cheers for

Brooklyn.

Another City wrenched from Federalism.

The Democrats of our neighbor over the way—Brooklyn—have covered themselves all over with glory. For years that city has been in the hands of the pipe layers, but the sceptre has departed from Whiggery. Henry C. Murphy, Esq., a firm and consistent Democrat, was on Tuesday elected Mayor by more than 250 majority, and the Common Council stands 11 Democrats to 7 pipe laying Whigs. Last spring the Whig majority on the Mayoralty ticket, was 719 showing a change of near 1000 votes. Most nobly done, Brooklyn.—Hurrah for sister B.
