Full Text
The intrusion of the French in the Genoese port of Juan, of which the Hamburg papers lately received, give an account, and in consequence of which the English on the part of the allies, have demanded of the government of Genoa, immediate declaration of war against France, under penalty of being considered as enemies, will probably in the event make up for the failure of their plan of relieving Corsica. The Genoese at the period of that event, independent of their general good will to the French cause, evinced in several instances during the war, will find another strong argument for siding with the French, if side they must, in their situation as to the French forces. The southern army against Sardinia is at their doors. and a squadron of 10,000 troops in one of their ports. The accession of Genoa to the league against tyranny, will be particularly advantageous to the French, as it will give them a firm footing not far from the centre of the most populous portion of the king of Sardinia's dominions.
