About three o'clock this morning, a fire broke out in that den of infamy called Catharine Lane, running from Broadway to Elm-street; and it is with no regret that we state that almost every building on either side is now a heap of ruins.
The number of front dwelling houses destroyed is from 12 to 16, chiefly three story frames. Perhaps no one can tell how many families or individuals resided in this wretched place, but we presume that not less than one hundred and fifty, of all ages and colors, have been driven into the streets.
