GEORGIAN CITED— Sgt. M. C. Pearson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Willie Pearson of Decatur, who was awarded the Bronze Star medal for meritorious service while serving with the 84th Chemical company in France, Luxembourg and Germany. The citation reads that Sgt. Pearson's "took complete control of his section in carrying out his missions. Through his untiring efforts he succeeded in leading his men, even though many times under heavy enemy fire, to successful accomplishment of his assigned tasks. When other units were forced to withdraw because of intense hostile fire, he calmly remained with his section to maintain vital anti-observation smoke screens. The determination, courage, devotion to duty, and skillful handling of the important assignments by Sgt. Pearson was an inspiration to the men and officers of his organization."
