On Tuesday last one John Webb, belonging to Shirley's regiment, was rescued by some of the inhabitants, from a number of Royal American soldiers, (Germans) who cut the poor man in so terrible a manner, that he died.

The coroner's inquest have brought in their verdict, wilful murder, in a private sentinel, belonging to the said Royal Americans, and that diverse other persons of the said regiment, were present, aiding, abetting, and encouraging the same murder. The principal one is escaped, and two are in custody.
