Firms That Had Offices in the Building Heavy Losers.
DECATUR, ILL., Feb. 22.—The library block, occupied by the public library, Brown's Business College, a Knights of Pythias lodge, several concerns and private offices, manufacturing concerns, was burned last night. The building was a total loss of $17,000. Among the losses was that of the manufacturing concerns of $50,000 and heavier. Remaining $12,000. Half of the public library's books were saved; loss $16,000. Hubbard Co., chemists, loss $10,000. Smaller manufacturing amounts and were partially covered by insurance.
