CITY COUNCILMAN IN FIST FIGHT

Fountain Rothwell and Jack Larue Settle Difficulties on Street.

Fountain Rothwell, chairman of the fire committee of the City Council, engaged in a fist fight this afternoon with Jack Larue, who worked on the fire department under former Chief A. G. Newman. According to witnesses, Rothwell was getting the better of the match when the two were separated.

Friends of Rothwell say that Larue tried to take part in fighting a fire on Paris road and later insisted on riding back to town on the motor truck, although Rothwell had given orders that no one outside the department should be allowed on the apparatus. Larue then went to the Rothwell's livery barn, where the two quarreled. Later they met at Ninth and Broadway and the fight took place.

The fire was at the home of Mrs. Martha J. Zaring, 1517 Paris road. The flue burned out and for a time threatened the house. The department made a quick run, reaching the house about three minutes after the alarm was received. The blaze was promptly extinguished with chemicals.
