Full Text

"We shall deem it a duty we owe to the country to support—as a choice of evils—any two men who can defeat Scott and Jones, provided the Whig party are corrupt and reckless enough, to thrust them forward as candidates."—Brownlow.

The foregoing is from Parson Brownlow, a big gun among the Whigs. What he may yet do we cannot tell—but this is certain his party will nominate Scott, but we don't know so much about Jones. If Scott is not the nominee of whiggery it will be because, the Convention will not be able to agree on any man and will consequently go for some other and new candidate.
