LONDON, Sept. 5.
The time fixed for the sailing of General Abercromby's army for the West-Indies, is the beginning of October; it will consist of 25,000 men ; 10,000 of whom are destined for St. Domingo, and the remainder for the Leeward Islands. General White goes out second in command, and will probably have the direction of the force intended to act against the French settlements in St. Domingo.
General Knox, Quarter Master-General to the army destined for the West-Indies, is gone to Portsmouth, where he will embark in a few days for that quarter, on board a sloop of war, provided for the purpose.
Col. Knox is to have under his command. a corps of 6000 pioneers, black slaves, who are to be paid for to the planters, at so much per day ; and for every one of them that dies, a certain sum is to be paid.
