Northern Pacific Passenger Train Collision
Where Damage Was Great.

Seattle, Sept. 21.-Train No. 3, of the Northern Pacific railway, while entering the yards at Lake, a small station, twenty-six miles east of Pasco, yesterday forenoon, suffered a collision that was remarkable for the slight injuries inflicted upon passengers. The train was running in close time in two sections, and through a misplaced switch, so it is alleged, the last section crashed into the rear end of the first. The locomotive plunged almost through the rear car of the first section, pulling a baggage car with it into the debris.

The passengers in the wrecked car saw the on-coming train and ran through the front end and sprang to the ground. The train was coming at a fair rate of speed when the collision took place, and many of those who jumped were considerably jarred.
