$10,000 Check for
Crippled Children
The Alaska Crippled Children's
Association Headquarters at Anchorage, Alaska, sent a check for
$10,000 to the Territorial Department
of Health, to be used for
matching funds for crippled children.
Mrs.
John McCormick,
President of the Juneau-Douglas
Chapter of the ACCA announced
today.
The check was received by the
Health Department Monday, and
makes a total of $11,900 turned
in this year.
This money is in
part what has been paid for membership
and contributions, and the
Juneau-Douglas Chapter can be
proud that some of their funds
has already been put to good use.
As treasurer, Norman Banfield
mailed a check to Headquarters
for $400 some time ago.
Thirty-two crippled children have
been met at the airport, brought
to Juneau and sent to Sitka via
Alaska Coastal planes in the past
month.
Your membership dollar is still
needed. Local ACCA officers wish
to remind the public, and they
also urge the purchase of Seals
for Crippled Children, from ACCA
members or at the Juneau Public
Health Center on Main Street.
Ninety-two and one-half percent
of the proceeds from the sale of
seals remains in the local chapter,
the remaining seven and one-half
percent pays for the seals.
The Juneau-Douglas
Chapter
has a membership of 600 since its
organization in February of this
year, Mrs. McCormick stated.
