Full Text

Extract of a letter Cadiz, 10th December, 1802.

On account of the Yellow Fever, our port has been for some time shut up against American vessels coming from Philadelphia, river Delaware and Baltimore. Three or four that have entered our port, were immediately ordered out, and obliged to steer for another market. Vessels from any other ports of the United States are subject to a rigorous quarantine of 40 days, which is, as you must suppose, equally hard. In short my advice to you is not to make any Shipments hither, but rather carry your grain and provisions to Italy, as being the best market.
