From the Episcopal Recorder.

The Last Judgment.

Lo ! the loud Trump proclaims the day of doom,
While countless myriads starting from their shrouds;
Shall bid a long farewell to the dark tomb
And meet their coming Savior in the clouds.

Then shall be seen one universal blaze,
When nature shall confess the present God ;
And every guilty soul in wild amaze,
Shrink from the presence of his angry rod.

Fall on us, O ye rocks, they then shall cry,
And hide us from his justly vengeful hand
Beneath your shelter we from Him would fly,
Or crushed forever by the solid land.

Tis vain, the trembling earth obeys her God.
Nor hides them from his bright, all-piercing eye :
They now must meet a judge whom once they scorned
And hear their sentence before earth and sky
Far hence to regions of eternal night.

Depart ye cursed who have loved a lie
Whilst in felicity, to dwell in light,
The just shall take their mansions in the sky.
