BOSTON, June 2.

LAST Wednesday being the Anniversary Day appointed by the Royal Charter for the Election of His Majesty's Council of the Province of the Massachusetts Bay, the Great and General Court or Assembly of the said Province met at the Court House in this Town; and after the usual Oaths were administred to the Gentlemen who were returned to serve as Members of the Honourable House of Representatives, and the Declaration subscribed by them, they elected the Honorable James Otis, Esq; for their Speaker; who being presented to His Excellency the Governor, for His Approbation, according to the Direction of the Royal Explanatory Charter, His Excellency was pleased to send a Message in Writing to the House, signifying His Approbation of the said Election: The House then made Choice of Roland Cotton, Esq; for their Clerk: After which a Sermon was preach'd on the Occasion, before His Excellency and the General Assembly, by the Rev. Mr. Samuel DUNBAR, of Stoughton, from 2 Chron. XV. 1, 2.

And in the Afternoon the following Gentlemen were elected Councellors for the Year ensuing, viz.
