The Alma Herald having quoted a master mason, as having said the old walls of the Court House were not safe to rebuild on, we have been handed the following from Mr. Drewery, who is acknowledged by all, to be a master of his profession. We hope Capt. Lefler will accept the invitation here extended and come up and make an examination in connection with our mechanics, the old walls:
The Alma Herald, of May 3d, says that Capt. Lefler says that it is absurd to think of building on the old walls of the Court House, as it would be dangerous, or words to that effect. I would inform the tax-payers of Crawford county that I also have a knowledge of brick masonry and from many years' experience as a brick-layer, consider my judgment in reference to the old walls of the Court House, at least as good as any man in the State, and if Capt. Lefler will come and personally inspect the walls with me, he, I think, will come to the same conclusion to which I have come, and that is, that the outside walls are good and perfectly safe to build on.
M. W. Drewery.
