PRESIDENT OF
WASHINGTON U.
Ceremony Will Take Place
in Seattle Friday--Will
Be Simple. Quiet.
SEATTLE, Oct. 1--Dr. Lee Paul Sieg will be inaugurated as President of the University of Washington on Friday morning, October 5. The ceremony, at the President-Elect's request, will be a simple one and in reality will be a combination of the annual "President's Assembly" and an inauguration. The event will take place in the University Pavilion at 10:30 a.m.
The faculty will march in academic procession as in the annual graduation ceremonies, with the University band playing the processional and recessional. The Governor is expected to make a brief talk and a member of the Board of Regents will induct the new president. With instruction at the University beginning on October 1, Dr. Sieg was greeted by the largest student body in the history of the institution. There is no doubt but that the all-time high figure of 7,368 students in the fall quarter of 1930 will be exceeded and that a new record will be set.
The inaugural committee of the Board of Regents consists of Robert Montgomery, chairman, Alfred Shemanski and Winlock Miller. Prof. Joseph Daniels as head of the public exercises committee of the faculty has the detailed arrangements in charge.
