Full Text

Fortunate. On board one of the sloops lost in the late gale, was a lad, son of Mr. Smith, Cheapside-street, who was returning home, after an excursion of pleasure, to resume his studies. The news of his loss soon reached his parents, who were overwhelmed with grief.

The wreck floated on the beach at Rockaway, and in the binnacle, safely stowed, young Smith was found, safe, drenched with wet, and half starved. His return home, as may be well imagined, was looked for, and diffused great joy. It was a Providential escape as all hands perished.
