The House of Representatives, on Saturday, at an early hour, went into Committee of the Whole on the state of the Union, (Mr. Weller in the chair,) and resumed the consideration of the bill making appropriations for the support of the army. Mr. McKay offered an amendment to reduce the appropriations, so as to make the bill conform to the army retrenchment bill, which passed the House, and is pending in the Senate. On this amendment, a discussion arose, which continued for the remainder of the day. The committee, without taking any question, rose and reported progress; and the House adjourned.
