LONDON, March 27.

Extract of a letter from Dantzick, dated February 28.

WE are very sorry to acquaint you, the river, the water, on a sudden, in the night, from the 23d to the 24th, rose to such a height that all the neighbouring low country, and those parts in town where the salt and grocery warehouses and our publick ash yard are situated, were over-flowed directly, which has occasioned a very great loss, particularly to the pot-ashes, whereof the damage is valued to about 25,000l. sterling. As to the loss of salt, it cannot be yet estimated. Several country people, with their houses and goods, were carried away to the sea, where they perished; and a great many cattle were drowned in the fields and stables. The general loss occasioned by this unhappy accident may amount to about two millions of our guilders.
