From the Baltimore Intelligencer of last Friday.

At the close of the poll, last evening, the votes for the candidates for representation from this district for the House of Representatives of the United States, were as follow:

Smith, in county 1288
city 1322
2610

Winchester, in co. 1010
city, 901
1911

Majority in favor of Smith, 699

At the close of the polls, last evening, the friends and supporters of General Smith, to express their joy for the honorable victory which they had gained, received the General from the Hustings, in an elegant arm chair, supported by his fellow-citizens; from whence they formed procession in the following

ORDER.

A detachment of Horse,
Citizens with branches of candles,
One hundred Citizens with lights,
Four Lanterns,
with inscriptions, supported by mechanics.
Citizens, six abreast,
A LUSTRA.
GENERAL SMITH,
crowned with a wreath of flowers,
Mechanics with Lanterns,
Light Horsemen, and
An immense concourse of Citizens.

They marched through every principal street, amidst continued acclamations---The houses in general were handsomely illuminated; and in those windows which a sight of the procession obliged to be raised, the want of candles was brilliantly supplied by immense crowd of ladies, whose native charms received additional lustre, from the satisfaction which beamed in their countenances, in viewing the signal respect justly paid to the man whom the people delight to honor.

Arrived at General Smith's house. He alighted, and returned his most hearty acknowledgments for their attention; and the citizens dispersed. There never was a more popular procession of equal magnitude in which peace and harmony was more predominant and it was pleasing to observe many friends of Mr. Winchester wish their fellow-citizens to and like good republicans, cheerfully hailing the choice of the people.
