MARYLAND ELECTION,

Monday next will terminate the contest in the cities and counties of Maryland, for Representatives to Congress, and Delegates to the Legislature, which is now carried on, in many of the counties, with that activity and untiring zeal, for which the Electioneering of Maryland has always been distinguished. To the information already given of the names of candidates in the several parts of the state, the following may be added :

Com. Joshua Barney is declared a Candidate for Congress in Baltimore District.

Baltimore -At a meeting of Republican Ward Delegates, at Baltimore, John S.Smith and Louis Eichelberger have been nominated as proper persons to represent the City in the Legislature. At a subsequent meeting of Democratic Republicans, Thomas Kell and H. M Brackenridge were nominated as the most proper candidates. There are, therefore, two Republican tickets for the city. James Mosher, jun. has declined standing a poll.

Ann Arundel.-In this county, at a meeting of Democratic voters, Wm. H Marriott, Rezin Estep, Thomas H. Dorsey, and Charles Steuart, were nominated as the Republican ticket for the House of Delegates, for that county.

Robert Wright and Stevenson Archer have been recommended, at meetings in their respective districts, to the suffrages of the people therein, as Republican candidates. In both cases, however, the present Representatives, Mr. Culbreth and Mr. Reed, have determined to stand their ground.

There is a considerable contest in Baltimore for the office of Mayor, between the friends of George Stiles, the present Mayor, and those of John Montgomery who is also in nomination. This officer is in Baltimore, chosen by Electors, appointed for that purpose by general election. and generally pledged to vote for a particular person to fill the office.
