FOR THE NATIONAL INTELLIGENCER.

Lancaster, Pa. August 13:

Messrs. Editors:

I can offer no better apology for again troubling you, than those feelings which ever impel one to resist what he deems the aggression of an enemy. It would seem that I have made more than one enemy on the Delaware. The "Revenue Officer" in the Aurora, and your correspondent on the same side, are distinct persons, if I be at all versed in style. But, though they are principal and second, they do not seem to be very consistent in their statements. If every thing else were wanting, this is sufficient to prove that they are more governed by passion than truth. And, why should they be irritable at the errors of a foreigner, who cannot enter into the motives that have actuated them? Have they been able to discredit one fact that I have stated? You, gentlemen, corrected my errors on the subject of the American revenue laws: but the revenue officers have admitted all the facts on which my opinions, in the first instance, were founded. Your correspondent, the lieutenant of a "Revenue Officer," has affirmed that he knew me. Now I take it upon me to reply that in this he is not only mistaken, but knows that he wilfully declared an untruth, as I will shew by his own communication. If he really knew me, he would not manifest any solicitude to discover me; for no man would search for that he had not lost. Moreover, I dare him, by way of testing his veracity, to name me. He cannot; he never saw, nor ever knew me. He is, nevertheless, anxious to know me, and even requests me to give him a clue to my discovery. I take him on his own ground, and will
