Handsome Residence.—"Coming events cast their shadows before," is an old saying, and one in this case worthy of more than passing notice; as the shadow may disappear. The substantial trip upon the scene and the realization of a bachelor's dream, add another happy home to our population. These thoughts are caused by our friend Wm. Brown—a young and interesting member of the bachelor's club—erecting a large, and probably the handsomest residence in town, on his eligible site, in American ravine. The ceilings were to be 11 feet high, main building 14x22 and the wing 17x13—a fine piazza extending around the house. When completed it will be an ornament to the town. We might surmise that some charming young lady had taken advantage of their leap-year prerogative and popped the all-important question. We suppose it is wrong to surmise anything of the kind; but knowing Williams' good nature and generosity does not permit him to refuse any favor within his power to confer, it is barely possible that in this case "coming events cast their shadows before."
