ST. PAULITES VISIT U. S. R. A.
CAMP

Sunday, August 23, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Foster and Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Foster and children, Herbert, Jr., and Patricia Ann, and Miss Jane Murphy visited the U. S. R. A. Camp Eleanor (named for Mrs. F. D. Roosevelt, the president's wife) in Hinckley, Minnesota, about 110 miles from St. Paul.

It is on the St. Croix River and covers one-quarter of a mile. It has four units with seven cottages, each cottage has five people, one counselor and four girls. There will be four club houses, the logs for which were imported from out west. There is a wash room for each unit with hot and cold water, a laundry, and shower rooms.

There is a large dining hall and kitchen, well-equipped, from which three hot meals are served a day.

The girls range in age from seven to fourteen. The Units are in four directions, north, east, south, and west, Miss Annie Salenia Foster is counselor in the West unit. The first group was from St. Paul, eight of our own girls were to be in attendance, but only two were there. Last week twelve colored girls from Minneapolis were there.

There is a beautiful bathing beach with three life guards. When completed it will be one of the finest in the country. As yet, they use lanterns but will have electricity in the near future. There is a supervisor's cottage with a beautiful fireplace, office room, sitting room, a small library, and telephone. To date they have had 183 girls and eighteen counselors. They have a nurse for each unit, four cooks, one secretary, one clerk, and an assistant. Miss Beatrice Vassar and Miss Annie Salenia Foster from St. Paul are among the counselors.
