Philadelphia acquainting them That they have no Liberty - Pole to send them ; that which was formerly erected, having been cut off by a detachment of the 46 regiment : But that there is a Station-Pole, iron-bound, opposite Faction-Hall, and not far from St. Oliver's and Paradise, to which, as they seem to think it will suit them, the Philadelphians shall be heartily welcome, provided they can obtain the consent of a few King-killing Republicans--THE TRUE & ABSOLUTE Proprietors; thereof the town being much more than willing to part with it : Notwithstanding,----the New - Yorkers think it a little unreasonable in the Philadelphians not to allow them NINE Months to give their answer, as they might have then had an opportunity of trying whether they could not at least. have made their own money of it at vendue, giving the overplus, if there should be any, to some charitable use, after the wise exam- ple of their loving brethren ; who are desired to recollect by whom the proposal for breaking the non-importation agreement was first made to the merchants of this city ; and to declare whether they acted from the dictates of their own reason when they took a course so widely different,----or whether they were led, as usual, quietly along, without either knowing or suspecting whither or wherefore they were going.
