"In the night between the 12th and 13th inst. a severe shock of an earthquake was felt in the district of Bellunee, belonging to the Republic of Venice, when a mountain named Piz, was thrown down, one half of which falling on a large quantity of wood collected for the use of the iron works, entirely buried it, and 56 persons, besides a number of cattle, were killed: and the other half of it falling into the river Corderol caused it to overflow its banks, which has done great damage."
