HON. R. T. LYTLE,
The whole Whig establishment of the city, with the Gazette at the head, seem sensitively alive to the fame of our young and talented member of Congress, Mr. Lytle. Scarce a Gazette appears that has not,--either in prose or doggerel poetry, an attack upon this gentleman The truth is, Mr. Lytle is more dreaded by the Whigs of Cincinnati than ever was the Simoom by the Arabs of the desert. In him they see the very personification of their next fall's defeat. No wonder they are alarmed, and no wonder that they are now endeavoring to pull him down from the elevated station he holds in the confidence of his constituents. It is a way they have, to abuse every thing they cannot emulate. Let them go on. There is a democratic phalanx, in Hamilton county, perfectly capable of defending him from the attacks of his enemies. Let them go on--the "Gifted," as they ironically, but very properly, term him, will have the honor of representing the first Congressional district once more in spite of their malice and their jeering.
