According to advices received in Juneau, Mrs. Mary Lou Kast of 1846 Island Avenue, San Diego, Calif., has received word there that her husband, Edward W. Kast, U.S.N.R., was reported missing in action somewhere in the Southwest Pacific. Young Kast joined the Navy Reserve last April while visiting in San Diego from Skagway, Alaska.
Mr. Kast had just been promoted to Chief Petty Officer on October 25 at his station in the Hawaiian Islands.
The Kasts have many friends in Skagway where they lived for the past six years. Mrs. Kast, before her marriage, will be remembered as Mary Lou Sunderland, former resident of Juneau.
Mr. Kast has a brother, Lawrence, a sergeant at Lowry Field, Denver, in the Air Corps and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chauncey Kast, reside at 4138 Nevada Avenue, Fresno, Calif.
