Jan. 10. The Edinburgh Subscription still goes on very briskly. About 8000l. is already subscribed, including Leith and Canongate. The House of Messrs. Mansfield, Hunter and Co. have subscribed 300l. Lady Grant 200l. and William Miller Esq; Advocate, son of the Lord Justice Clerk, 100 guineas. The Subscription at Leith has been so liberal; that it is not doubted but they will be able to raise two companies, especially as Mr. Boyd, nephew to the Earl of Errol, who is to command one of the companies, is to furnish 50 men at his own expense.
