A loving cup, the property of Fred G. Taylor, secretary of the Amalgamated Sugar company, was viewed with interest by club members and visitors at the Weber club today.
The cup is a gift to Mr. Taylor by 32 members of a party of resident and visiting pleasure seekers, in appreciation of his services in proving that the "longest way around is the most interesting way to get to Yellowstone park from Ogden."
The "Taylor route," which the party has termed the winding way, over which the local business man and guide led them through the wilds of northern Utah, northeastern Idaho, northwestern Wyoming and southeastern Montana, is estimated to be 993 miles long, against the 341 miles of the official route.
The trip occupied ten days and included in the party were Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Scowcroft, family and guests, Mr. and Mrs. Warfield and daughter of New York City; Mr and Mrs. A. B Apperson and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Peery, Mr. and Mrs J. H. DeVine, Mr. and Mrs. Stephen H Love, Mr. and Mrs. B. C. Fullmer, Miss Veda Eccles and guest, Miss Marian Emmett of Oregon; Mr. and Mrs Fred G. Taylor, Julian Bamberger, Mrs. Simon Bamberger and daughter and guest, Miss Nathan.
The Bamberger party was met by the other automobilists at the entrance to the National Park.
Engraved on the loving cup, which was presented to Mr. Taylor several ago, are the words: "Presented to Fred G Taylor, Guide-By the Bunch, 8-19-1916." and comparative outlines of the "Taylor Route" and the "Official Route."
