Four Day Band Clinic To Be Held At Ole Miss
Three Organizations To Participate In Musical Program

University, Miss., Nov. 29. - A gala band concert, featuring three complete musical organizations, will climax the four-day Clinic of the Mississippi Bandmasters' Association Saturday night, December 9, at the University of Mississippi.

The three bands to be used in the concert include two all-state musical groups and the 85 piece Ole Miss Band, under the direction of R. N. Whitfield, Jr.

The four-day clinic, which will attract approximately 200 high school musicians and 100 high school directors to the campus, will open Wednesday evening, December 6.

Music to be played at the final Saturday night concert will include those selections to be used in national and state band contests this Spring.

In addition, the Ole Miss band, making its first concert appearance of the year, following its most successful drill season in history, will present several novelties, as well as showing its versatility as a concert band.

Directors for the two all-state bands, whose personnel will be chosen from among the finest high school musicians in the state of Mississippi, will change with each selection, with the idea in mind to permit each director to conduct his favorite selection.

The program will open with registration at 4 o'clock, December 6. Supper will be at 6 o'clock, and a general assembly of all students and directors will be at 7 o'clock. The day will be concluded with a discussion of clinic plans and aims.

The "Red Band" one of the all-state bands, will begin playing national contest music at 7:45 o'clock Thursday morning. It will be followed by the "Blue Band" at 12:45, and the Ole Miss Band at 4 o'clock.

After supper a special demonstration is planned. The Friday program is similar to that of the preceding day, with a special orchestra demonstration, under the direction of Simon Kooyman of Clarksdale, scheduled for Saturday.
