Editor Democrat: The published proceedings of a Convention of the Democracy of Windham County, held at Fayetteville on the 2d day of July inst., disclose the fact that I was nominated by that Convention a candidate for the office of State Attorney for this county. While I most readily acknowledge the liberality of that nomination, I must be permitted respectfully to decline it, and it would serve to be a sufficient reason for so doing, that another individual has been declared a candidate for that office by a Convention of the Whigs of this county, to which party I claim to belong. Respectfully yours, &c., GEO. B. KELLOGG.
Sarton's River, July 7, 1851.
This is a sure prognostication of the popular feeling in the Green Mountain State, and indicates which way a majority of her votes will be cast in September. Mr. Kellogg however much he loved 'Freedom,' was not to be transferred to the Coalition National Democracy without an utterance of his dissent at least.
