As a delegate to the Southern Bee Keepers State Federation, Leslie Lewis, of Havana, has been in attendance on the meeting of the organization in New Orleans this week, accompanied by Mrs. Lewis. Mr. Lewis is vice president of the Florida Beekeepers Association and in prominent in the councils of the organization.
As a member of the nominating committee the Florida delegate was successful in securing the 1934 convention next December for Valdosta, Ga., and the president and secretary-treasurer from the southeastern states.
The National Honey Producers League and the American Honey Institute will be invited to meet with the Association next year. Both of these organizations have previously held their conventions in the North.
Florida had the largest delegation, except Louisiana, present at the New Orleans meeting.
A resolution urging Secretary of Agriculture Wallace to recognize bee-keeping as a legitimate business so that bee keepers may receive assistance from the Department of Agriculture, was adopted.
