TO THE MONITOR.
SIR—I may venture to say none are more gratified than I am with your giving the public a weekly hint on subjects which most nearly concern them. You must allow me, however, to point out an apparent error in your fifteenth number; where you mention the “wise men of the East” in the character of Jew doctors, instead of Pagan Philosophers.
or as they are usually denominated from the Greek, Magi. It is needless to make any particular remarks, until it be known whether your representation proceeded from oversight, or from inquiry. If the former was the case, the candid will readily excuse you; if the latter, it will be justly expected, that you offer some reasons for dissenting from an opinion, which, so far as I have yet learnt, has universally prevailed.
I am yours, Gt.&c.

Main Argument
the monitor erred in its fifteenth number by describing the 'wise men of the east' as jew doctors instead of pagan philosophers or magi; if not an oversight, reasons for dissent should be provided.
