In no campaign before has The Argus received so many communications bearing on the great issue before the people as it has this year. Many of these have been logical discussions of the topics of the times, but most of them have been anonymous, and hence could not be published under any circumstances. Further than this, the pressure on the columns of the paper in the last six weeks of the campaign has been so great that much that it would have been a pleasure to publish otherwise had necessarily to be eliminated. The Argus has regretted its inability to give space to much that has been submitted, but it believes now that all who have prepared matter for publication will realize the circumstances that prevented.
