Columbus, Feb. 11th.
The Free Soil Convention met to-day. Paris of Sandusky was elected Chairman, and Asper of Geauga, Secretary.
Resolutions were adopted taking the ground of intervention for freedom as to the affairs of nations as well as individuals—going for principles of equality, or free suffrage, and against monopoly—appointing Samuel Lewis and Joshua R. Giddings Senatorial Delegates to the National Convention nominating Leicester King and A. A. Guthrie, Senatorial Electors recommending District to appoint Delegates and Electors.
Edward Wade was nominated for Supreme Judge and G. W. Ellis for Board of Public Works.
The Senate was in Committee of the Whole on the tax bill. A resolution for a Pacific Railroad was adopted.
The House was in Committee of the Whole on the tax law, when a general row took place about taxing colleges, &c.
