Bowling Green Sentinel-Tribune.
The end of much-discussed will case involving the estate of the late "Major" A. L Knapp of Grand Rapids, former butcher of Bowling Green, came Monday morning in common pleas court when Judge McClelland sentenced three men to the penitentiary for their part in the forgery of a paper purporting to be the will.
Harry Imerson was given from seven to twenty years; Alfred E. Robson, two to twenty years, and Wall Snyder one to twenty.
The will made Imerson the beneficiary. Robson and Snyder signed the bogus will as witnesses and testified in probate and common pleas court that they had seen "Major" Knapp sign it.
All three had pleaded guilty last week, Snyder being the first to do so.
Judge McClelland, in reviewing the case, stated that in his belief the signature to the bogus will was that of a woman. Its forgery was so plain that the jury readily had decided it to be a forgery. The judge scored Imerson as the "master mind," saying that it developed he had induced Robson and Snyder to sign as witnesses after the death of Mr. Knapp, first giving them bootleg liquor.
