WOMAN'S CHRISTIAN TEMPERANCE UNION
Now that the time is about at hand when we are to hold the primaries, may the mothers of Prescott presume to ask that the voters voice the sentiment of the purest homes when they cast their ballots for the various candidates?
There are many signs that the Prescott of tomorrow is to be something finer and nobler than the town of today. We have not only been dreaming of our ideals but have been working them out into realities as is evidenced by the various up-to-date improvements. As our towns and cities reflect our individual lives let us make them as clean, decent, well regulated, comfortable and moral as our homes.
We shall never make a town or city a place fit for people to live in so long as we license vice to parade our streets or wink at lawlessness of any type. No city or town has done its duty by its citizens so long as those in authority permit purveyors of vice to trap the unwary on the street or at the open door of attractive residences. Often under the cloak of a decent exterior foster some dreadful sores. When the people have wrested their cities from the evil influences of commercialism in vice they will have made a long step in moral house cleaning which will end the intolerable state when every youth who walks the streets at night is treading almost on the edge of a moral inferno.
Let us continue to try to make of Prescott a clean wholesome place to live that others may copy our example and one in which our children can grow up their very best.
