In a notice in the Journal of yesterday, of the Evansville Benevolent Association, Dr. Hallock was mentioned as Treasurer of the Society. Jas. T. Walker is the Treasurer for this year. The annual election for officers will soon take place, when there may be a change. Mr. Walker has labored to some purpose in the cause, obtaining occasional contributions from the city and county. Since last June the city has contributed $10, and the County Board $125. Private donations, amounting to $15 or $20, has also been received by the Association since that time. A considerable portion of this money has been expended in sending indigent persons away to their friends, who would otherwise have remained a charge upon the Association. Within the past ten days about seven persons have been thus sent off.
