Baker, who left it the 8th Aug. that
Admiral Jarvis lay at anchor, in 20
fathom water, off the mouth of that
harbor, in perfect safety :--That his
fleet, after the sailing of Admiral
Nelson's squadron for the Canaries,
contained only twenty-three sail of
the line : while Admiral Massaredo's
which lay in the bay, amounted to
thirty-three :- -That it was not
thought that Massaredo would go
out to attack him, notwithstanding
his fleet was fully manned, and equipped :-And that the people of
Cadiz were much dissatisfied, Capt.
Baker saw Ad. Nelson's squadron
returning from the expedition to the
Canaries.
