RALLY AT PAINESVILLE.—Our friends at Painesville had a glorious gathering on Friday evening last, and the numbers and spirit of the gathering was a sufficient refutation of the bluster of the Liberals, that a demonstration had been made in favor of Greeley in our State or county, that would be of some significance at the day of election. The speakers were Hon. WM. L. Parkins, J. R. French, and our townsman, Hon. L. S. Sherman. The Telegraph closes its notice of the occasion as follows:

Hon. E. S. Sherman was the third and last speaker. He was, as were the others, warmly welcomed with a round of applause, as he came forward and addressed himself to the anxious crowd. A fine speaker, good in argument, strong in his support of the Republican ticket, candid in his opinion, he was, as he ever has been, received with enthusiastic applause and cheered many times in the course of his eloquent speech.

After he had concluded, the meeting was closed with three rousing cheers for Grant and Wilson. The meeting was the first mass meeting of the campaign that has been held by the Republican party in this neighborhood, and the enthusiasm manifested by the large attendance forms a pretty satisfactory sign that Republicanism is as strong as ever in Lake County, and in Painesville in particular.
