Hon. E. S. Sherman was the third and last speaker. He was, as were the others, warmly welcomed with a round of applause, as he came forward and addressed himself to the anxious crowd. A fine speaker, good in argument, strong in his support of the Republican ticket, candid in his opinion, he was, as he ever has been, received with enthusiastic applause and cheered many times in the course of his eloquent speech.
After he had concluded, the meeting was closed with three rousing cheers for Grant and Wilson. The meeting was the first mass meeting of the campaign that has been held by the Republican party in this neighborhood, and the enthusiasm manifested by the large attendance forms a pretty satisfactory sign that Republicanism is as strong as ever in Lake County, and in Painesville in particular.
