Full Text

The following article is copied from the London Morning Chronicle of Nov. 29, 1811.

The alterations spoken of have been ordered, in all probability, from a conviction of the speedy dissolution of the old king, and preparatory to the coronation of George IVth.

"Various alterations are making, previous to the next session, in the House of Lords, and the different approaches to it. A new stair-case from the arcade on the west side is completed, and a new door way made into the House near the south-west corner. The door-way leading from the lobby to the robing-room has been closed: and new central doors made for the entrance to the Painted Chamber. Some new office-apartments have been added, which form an additional story to one part of the west front. All the seats, &c. are taken up within the house, and the interior will be entirely refreshed, the Chair of State newly decorated, &c. New committee-rooms and offices are also forming, for the further convenience of the Members of the House of Commons; and the whole of the avenues to both Houses are to be repaired and painted, &c."
