Full Text

Last night the up passenger train on the Eureka and Palisade Railroad ran into a heavy thunder storm, near Garden Pass, and for a short time the lightning played around too lively for the comfort of the passengers and train men. It struck a ledge of rocks near the track and shook the train as an earthquake had taken possession of the country. It then forked off and demolished the headlight of the locomotive, and danced around over the iron horse at a fearful rate. Johnny Bell thought his time had come, and was about to man the life-boat or "grab a root," when the train shot out of the storm and all was again serene.—Eureka Leader.
