PREFERS JAIL TO COLD

Irby Conley, Escaped Prisoner Asked to Be Locked Up Again,

Early yesterday morning Irby Conley, one of the three prisoners who escaped from the county jail Thursday night, returned to the jail. Conley said that he had been up and down the Katy tracks hunting for fires, but as he could not find any place to stay and it was getting so miserably cold, he decided to return to jail where it was warm.

Fred Scott, the prisoner who came back Friday morning, will be taken to Jefferson City either Saturday afternoon or Monday. Scott was sentenced to three years in the penitentiary.

Francis Branham, the other prisoner who escaped at the same time, is still at liberty. Conley says that Branham boarded a Katy train for Kansas City.
