IN THE WRONG FIELD.

If you are seeking prizes for efficiency do
not become a corn husker.

Fred Stanek is the champion corn husker of
the world. At the recent contest in Nebraska
he husked 30 bushels in 80 minutes. That is
going pretty fast and if the corn had been bet-
ter the results would have been still larger.

Stanek's prize was $100 and his wages. Of
course he gets some honor but bis pictures in the
papers do not add much to his earnings as a
farm hand.

If Stanek were proportionately as good as a
prize fighter he would earn a thousand dollars
a minute.

But agriculture has never paid any too well.
